Mobile Users Want Navigation, Not Video

location based services

There's a good article in the Chicago Tribune about the rush to add video capabilities to mobile devices. When you hear the plans of the major carriers, you'd think the cell phone is almost ready to pass the television set as the main video delivery hardware!

The article points out that the real holy grail in the cell phone market is navigation and location based services. I totally agree. Call me a GPS nut, but I believe that location based services are going to explode over the next few years.

Of course, RIM is leading the way among hardware manafacturers on both fronts - video and GPS. I think in the long run, including the GPS chip in BlackBerry units will turn out to be the better decision.

What's your call? Which will be more important: video or location based services (like Naggie)?
