GPS phones are upon us

location based services

Australia will soon get its first taste of a phone with built-in GPS. The Mio A701 is a mobile phone, digital camera, MP3 player, PDA and GPS unit in one. It's expected to retail for more than $1000 and should be out before Christmas.
Meanwhile, Nokia has announced that its debut built-in GPS phone, the N95, should be available early next year. It will provide maps to more than 100 countries, but users will have to pay extra for the voice navigation service. The expected pricetag is about $1300.
If you're driving along and just want to know where the nearest parking building or petrol station can be found, the new Navman range of GPS devices feature a dedicated button for each. Simply press the petrol button for directions to the servo nearest to your location.
