Nokia Announces E50 Business Smartphone with Style

location based services

Nokia has announced the latest edition to its Eseries line of business 'multimedia computers' today, the sleek yet powerful E50 smartphone.

Packing the S60 3rd edition user interface, this quad band smartphone has a small and stylish design for those business people that do not want to lose the fun features of a handset just to get things like push email.

Speaking of push email, the Nokia E50 supports a host of different solutions, including Blackberry Connect, Microsoft Activsync, and Nokia's own Intellisync Wireless Email. The E50 also includes the QuickOffice document-editing suit pre-installed for editing of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents on the road.

The Nokia E50 is compatible with the Avaya one-X system, allowing the device to be integrated into a company's existing PBX telephone system. This allows the device to use least-cost routing to decide whether to send calls through the PBX, rather than the traditional mobile network, to save businesses money on calls. Additionally, services like short-number usage, call forwarding, and voicemail work just like existing landline phones on the PBX.

On the more 'fun' side of things, the new Nokia E50 includes an MP3 player, 1.3 megapixel resolution camera, and media functions with the Real player pre-installed. For worried management, the device is also available sans camera, to protect all those trade secrets.

Pricing and availability information for the Nokia E50 is not yet available.
