Google Maps Wine Country

location based services

The evolving Google Maps Europe has many a use, but I’m totally fascinated by its level of detail for some pretty impressive vineyard sites.

Here you can find a nice chunk of the Cote de Beaune, complete with Pommard, Volnay and the like. Here’s a slice of Cote-Rotie just north of Ampuis. A well-marked Mouton-Rothschild. The village and vineyards of Castiglione Faletto in Piedmont, near Barolo. The town of Wehlen, along Germany’s Mosel.

The next logical step would be a full mashup of, say, all the villages or Grand Crus in the Cote de Nuits. But let’s save that for another day. If you find any additional fun vineyard sites amid Google’s terabytes of imagery, let me know.
