eRide Embarks on Galileo Ship With New Munich Development Center
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2006--eRide Inc., a fabless semiconductor company that develops and markets high-sensitivity autonomous and assisted Global Positioning System (GPS) based devices and software for Location Based Services, announced today the expansion of it Global Development Team with the opening of a European Development Center in Munich, Germany. The center will tap into the Munich-based Galileo cluster industries and will be key to the development of the newer generation of eRide chipsets and software code name Opus 3, combining GPS and Galileo technologies. The office will also host an aiding server; demonstrating eRide's end to end positioning solutions and providing local service to European mobile phone operators.
"Germany in general and Munich specifically, with the advent of Galileo and the presence of many respectable automotive makers, has enormous market potential and strategic value," said Jens Bodenkamp, Managing Director, eRide Europe. Bodenkamp will lead the development team which will focus on the development of the Opus 3 GPS -- Galileo dual mode receiver. His team will also provide local applications support to European customers and promote eRide's capabilities to mobile phone operators.
