Wireless and GPS technology company Benefon has licensedIts technology to Karputer, a specialist in advanced in-car computing systems.Benefon will develop and supply high-performance navigation systems based on its proprietary navigation technology for deployment in Karputer products.Karputer is a producer of next-generation mini PCs that are designed for the automobile market.Karputer’s ICEPAC2 is a full-function Windows XP computer and entertainment system that fits into the standard DIN slot in any car, van or motorhome. Its 7” XGA motorised touch screen LCD display gives safe, one-touch access to key functions and can run any office application or PC game software, as well as supporting DVD, CD and digital media playback.ICEPAC2 will now incorporate Benefon’s TWIG navigation platform, which combines additional location services with best-in-breed GPS satellite navigation and sophisticated voice guidance. These services include TWIG Finder, which gives users the ability to locate family, friends or colleagues who also use TWIG; and TWIG Alert, which provides extra safety and security in unforeseen circumstances, by sending the user’s GPS location to a pre-set contact list.
