Tele Atlas Selected to Provide Map Content for New BlackBerry Maps Application

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment -- Tele Atlas, a leading global geographic content provider, today announced Research In Motion's (RIM) new BlackBerry(R) Maps application* will leverage Tele Atlas' map data to provide mapping and location based services (LBS). The BlackBerry Maps application is featured in the new BlackBerry Pearl smartphone.
The BlackBerry Maps application will feature Tele Atlas' highly accurate map data to help mobile users easily find addresses and the best routes to them. Leveraging Tele Atlas map data, BlackBerry Maps works together with other BlackBerry applications enabling users to send maps via email and launch maps from contacts in their address book.
Additionally, Tele Atlas announced RIM is a charter partner of Tele Atlas DeveloperLink(SM) program, which provides Internet, mobile and other next- generation application developers access to technology, business tools and services that help reduce their time to market. Now with more than 350 participating companies, DeveloperLink offers participants the ability to connect with the world's largest community of developers to discover new business opportunities, open sales channels and increase exposure for LBS and related solutions.
