Find Out Where to Take the A Train

location based services

HoPStop.com is a popular destination for those looking for door-to-door directions to get through public transportation systems in several metropolitan areas in the U.S., including New York City, Boston, San Francisco and Washington D.C. A new feature called HopStop PDA formats the service for PDAs, smartphones and other Web-enabled mobile devices with small screens for folks on the move.
The company says the PDA-friendly editions provides most of the information available on the regular site, such as step-by-step walking, subway and bus directions, choice of directions in nine languages, and maps. It is designed to compliment HopStop's existing mobile offerings. "The launch of HopStop PDA is a continuation of our efforts to provide our users with convenient and user-friendly ways to access HopStop's services. Consumers can also call our voice recognition service at 888-2HOPSTOP or send us a text message to get point-to-point mass transit directions," said HopStop.com CEO Chinedu Echeruo.
With HopStop Voice, you call the toll free number from a cell phone and speak your addresses. HopStop then sends the subway directions to your cell phone. This service only works for building addresses in Manhattan, however.
The SMS directions service also works with e-mail messages sent from mobile devices. Simply message them and receive a reply with subway directions or to the closest subway. To get subway directions, send HopStop two addresses separated by the word to. Or, to receive directions to the closest subway stations from where you're standing, just send them an address.
ZAGAT TO GO, a mobile phone, PDA and smartphone version of ZAGAT's restaurant and entertainment guide, is the launch sponsor for HopStop PDA. A ZAGAT TO GO banner ad receives a prominent place at the top of each page.
"HopStop.com's innovative mobile-friendly transit directions site is a great complement to ZAGAT TO GO, our mobile restaurant and entertainment software," said Dan Entin, Product Manager, Internet & Wireless at Zagat Survey.
