Intrado Extends Hosted User-Plane Solution to LBS Application Provider Market; Solution Bundles User-Plane Functionality and LBS Applications for Rapid Deployment of Location-Based Services

location based services

LONGMONT, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2006--Intrado Inc., a global provider of integrated data and telecommunications solutions, today announced the availability of the Intrado(R) User-Plane Client Gateway. The User-Plane Client Gateway lets LBS application providers bundle applications with Intrado's hosted user-plane functionality to rapidly deploy a complete LBS solution within a wireless carrier's network. It enables application providers to be the single point of connectivity to the wireless carrier for location-based applications and IS-801-1 traffic, helping to streamline location requests.

The User-Plane Client Gateway is compatible with all BREW and Java applications and features proven A-GPS technology -- resulting in precise and reliable location coordinates. Because of its standards-based architecture, the Hosted User-Plane PDE can be easily integrated into any LBS application provider's IP network. It requires an IP network device physically located in the provider's network to forward all IS-801-1 requests to the Intrado Hosted User-Plane PDE. The IS-801-1 responses are then forwarded to the originating device in the carrier's network through the application provider.

"We're leveraging our Hosted User-Plane PDE solution to help LBS application providers drive down the cost and complexity of bringing location products to market through the carrier of their choice," said Monica Marics, Intrado vice president of product marketing. "The User-Plane Client Gateway provides a very flexible business model to accommodate all types of providers."

Intrado will be demonstrating several location-based applications compatible with its Hosted User-Plane PDE solution at booth #6335 during the CTIA WIRELESS 2006 event April 5-7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Intrado senior technical officer John Snapp has been chosen to speak during the CTIA Wireless event on April 6, 2006. Snapp will join a group of location-based services experts on a panel titled "LBS - Where is the Industry on Location Based Services?" which examines the technology used in mobile LBS and important applications which are being utilized in enterprise and consumer arenas.
