Tech Startups: Industry Pricing a topic in Wall Street Transcript Semiconductors Issue.: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

In the sub-$2 billion market caps, our favorite names are SiRF Technology (SIRF) and Trident. SiRF is a leading GPS chip supplier. This is a very early market today. They sell into TomTom and Garmin, the two leading portable navigation device OEMs. They are obviously looking at the wireless market as a big market opportunity for GPS and turn-by-turn directions as carriers roll out location-based services in late 2006 and into 2007. There are a lot of good catalysts for GPS. Penetration rates for GPS are very low today. Whether you're talking about the PND (Portable Navigation Device) market or in-dash car systems, wireless is a very large opportunity that will grow over the next several years. Then you've got other markets like digital still cameras and laptops, so they're really well positioned with not a whole lot of competition. People will enter this market over the next several years, but they have a big product lead on the market, which is very difficult to do, so I like that name as a defensible technology and a good product cycle that's set up for the next couple of years.
