location based services

London, November 16 2006 - Seeker Wireless, one of the leading location based service providers, announced today that it will be showcasing its unique range of location solutions at the forthcoming Location Based Services 2006 Conference, to be held at the Hilton Olympia in London from November 20th - 23rd.

The company has developed an innovative solution to the problem of locating mobile phones accurately without needing to deploy additional handset add-ons such as GPS. To cater for the Fixed Mobile Substitution market, Seeker Zone(tm) has been developed to allow subscribers to use their mobile phones as their home phones with an accuracy of under 500 metres.
On the first day of the show, Monday 20th November at 3 pm, Andrew Grill, General Manager & Head of Sales at Seeker Wireless, will address the conference and demonstrate a new approach to that of HomeZone services currently deployed in Germany. Entitled "Evaluating the use of high accuracy HomeZone as an enabler to drive new LBS revenues", Andrew will outline how this unique approach from Seeker can drive incremental LBS revenues. He will explain how the new solution can result in reduced revenue leakage and improved detection reliability, with increased revenue for mobile operators.
"We believe our participation in the market will have a big effect on the LBS industry", commented Andrew Grill. "Recent trials of our product on live networks have demonstrated a high level of accuracy on standard GSM and 3G handsets and a number of operators have already seen the benefits of our HomeZone solution."
Grill continued, "To build on our SeekerZone product, we have a range of exciting products planned for 2007 focussed on tracking, location search and location advertising. We feel that our unique approach to location will in turn benefit the whole LBS industry".
Now in its sixth year, Location Based Services 2006 is an opportunity to hear about the latest LBS enabled applications including navigation, mobile local search, telematics and m-communities. Delegates will also hear about new trends such as how LBS can link with mobile advertising.
Seeker Wireless will also be participating in a post-conference workshop on 23rd November. The session, will run from 9:30 to 15:30 and is entitled "Developing LBS applications utilising the latest GPS technologies". Led by NEC Europe, the workshop will address the issue of how to utilise different technologies to deliver compelling LBS and drive revenue.
