NAVTEQ Supplies POI data to Under Secretary of Defense

location based services

NAVTEQ has been selected as the provider of Points of Interest (POI) information by the Office of Under Secretary of Defense for use on its MilitaryHOMEFRONTand MilitaryInstallations websites, which support quality of life and relocation activities for the military community. If it’s good enough for the armed forces to use for their families, it’s good enough for you.
NAVTEQ’s detailed POI data is available on the MilitaryHOMEFRONT and MilitaryInstallations websites supporting military installations in ten countries worldwide including North America, Europe and Southeast Asia providing hundreds of thousands of Service members and their families access to local off-base information, including schools, hospitals and medical care offices, banks, restaurants, gas stations, hotels and facilities, child care, and entertainment.
NAVTEQ’s POI data is geo-referenced to the NAVTEQ map, which allows navigation users to find and route to the locations they are searching for. In addition, listing information such as the name of the location, address and telephone number is included.
The MilitaryHOMEFRONT and MilitaryInstallations websites are important information sources that military personnel rely on to understand and locate services in proximity to military bases.
“NAVTEQ has been a longstanding supplier of data for U.S. government applications and we are firmly committed to maintaining that support in the future,” stated Roy Kolstad, Vice President and General Manager – Business and Government Solutions, NAVTEQ. “We are confident that NAVTEQ’s extensive POIs will allow military users to more easily and efficiently access location information and route to their selected destinations.“
