NTT DoCoMo Plans to Sell Windows Mobile Handheld in Japan: "
NTT DoCoMo, Inc. has signed and agreement with High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC) under which DoCoMo will market HTC 3G FOMA handsets with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Japanese edition operating systems.

No date is specified yet, but NTT DoCoMo and HTC aim to launch commercial sales sometime in the second half of 2006.

HTC's handset will be designed to provide mobile solutions for corporate users and will incorporate synchronisation with Windows Server and Exchange Server to offer messaging and other business support.

The model will offer dual-mode WCDMA and GSM/GPRS on a single handset, and offer voice, video and packet communications compatible with Wireless LAN and will feature a QWERTY keyboard. There's no confirmation of what specific model will be used as a basis for this new series.

HTC manufactures many of today's Windows Mobile devices available in the market, and a list can be found in our Smart Device Database"
