Intrado and Networks in Motion Announce Strategic Marketing Alliance; Companies Will Jointly Market Location-Based Services for Wireless Carriers and Enterprise Customers
LONGMONT, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2006--Intrado Inc. (NASDAQ:TRDO), a global provider of integrated data and telecommunications solutions, and Networks In Motion, Inc., the award-winning Wireless Navigation and LBS Company, today announced that they have agreed to cooperatively market location-based services (LBS) solutions for wireless carriers and enterprise customers. Together, the companies will provide wireless carriers and enterprise customers with the enhanced functionality needed to successfully launch and manage location-based applications. The joint offering will reduce the need for in-house resources and technology while enabling faster time-to-market for LBS applications.
The joint offering will integrate Networks in Motion's applications with Intrado's Hosted User-Plane Positioning Determining Entity (PDE) to deliver mobile customers location-relevant content in a commercially proven system that is accurate, reliable and secure. Applications being offered include voice-prompted turn-by-turn navigation (AtlasBook(TM)), mobile workforce management (AtlasLink(TM)), and (FamilyFinder(TM)), a tool for parents to help locate their child and determine if they are safe. These handset-based location applications will be supported by the Intrado Hosted User-Plane PDE, which features proven A-GPS technology along with compatibility for all BREW and J2ME handsets. It easily integrates into existing network infrastructure, reducing risks and minimizing costs for faster time-to-market. With its open platform, wireless carriers can easily develop new applications or utilize existing content when launching location services.
"With wireless carriers focusing on the increased revenue opportunities for data services and the growing interest in LBS, offering the applications and the platform together makes sense as it reduces the time and complexity in launching location services," said Keith Collins, Intrado vice president product marketing. "We're pleased to join forces with Networks In Motion and their award-winning solutions to deliver location-centric information to people on the go."
"We expect exciting features, like navigation, to become as ubiquitous as picture phones; because finding relevant information is easier with a location context, NIM's award-winning applications will increase carrier's revenue per subscriber," said Doug Antone, Networks In Motion chief executive officer.
