VELOCITIE Provides Upgrade Support for Mobile GIS Application at WPSC

Green Bay, Wisconsin – VELOCITIE has been retained by Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPSC) to provide upgrade support for WPSC’s mobile GIS application, Field Access to Automated Records (FAAR), along with ongoing technical support of their GIS.

VELOCITIE’s upgrade support services include implementation planning, configuration requirements definition, and implementation of software to publish data from GIS to FAAR. VELOCITIE’s technical assistance will facilitate the use of FAAR’s new Smart Objects functionality, which allows quick access to detailed information about selected facility features. The upgrade will also provide access to additional territory data, extending the use of FAAR throughout WPSC’s service region.

With support from VELOCITIE, WPSC has recently achieved several other critical application goals within its GIS program including:

Mobile application enhancements to address the needs of the expanded user base

FME version upgrades and configuration to support evolving data exchange needs

Work Order Design interface changes to accommodate improved symbology for map data

Enhancements to GIS functionality

Requirements gathering and application design for pole treatment and overhead service inspection

Regarding the mobile GIS upgrade, Jennifer Nieland, WPSC Business Systems Analyst, said, “We’re pleased to continue our partnership with VELOCITIE. The FAAR upgrade will advance our use of GIS data in locating facilities and in day-to-day field operations.”

Ken Lenser, Director of Integration Services at VELOCITIE, stated: “With WPSC’s growth as a regional energy service provider, the goal of all our projects with WPSC is to assist in furthering their capacity to provide customers the best energy related services. The mobile GIS upgrade will provide enhanced access to map data in the field, allowing WPSC personnel to most efficiently address customer requests.”
