The First Google Phone: No, Not That One, But From Samsung

location based services

The first Google phone is out, and no, it is not the Google Phone, but a Samsung phone with Google services embedded, the first time such a deal has been done by the search giant. It is the Ultra Edition 13.8, an HSDPA slider handset that incorporates Google’s mobile search and Gmail applications. As Telephony Online says, this is among the first of Google’s efforts to get its software into the phone at the factory. Competitor Yahoo has an extensive deal with Nokia to embed the Yahoo client in its devices. This new Samsung phone has launched in Europe and has not stated when a U.S. version of the phone will be available.
