Globalsat Launches Wrist Mounted Training GPS

Globalsat of Taiwan has launched an athletic training system (GH-601 and GH-602) that will compete with the Garmin Forerunner series. The devices are intended to help you document your athletic endeavors and train better as a result of the data feedback. We have been using a Garmin Forerunner 201 for several months and really like it. Even techno-phobes who have tried it like the information it provides on the run, and but don't really use the ability to download the data onto a computer for analysis and charting.

The GlobalSat GH-601 and GH-602 look similar to the Garmin Forerunners only in colored casings. The GlobalSat GH-601 comes with a good set of features including waterproof casing, a SiRF star III chipset for accuracy and lo power consumption, pace alerts and a rechargable Lithium ion battery. Garmin is soon announcing the ForeRunner 205 and 305 that upgrade several features including using the SiRF star III chipset, a new configuration that makes it more comfortable and more reliable - see our article. The GH-602 adds an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter.

The units come in red, green and yellow.
